As well as a full report and Executive Summary, five case studies and separate sectoral fiches have been produced to provide targeted information for managing authorities seeking to use financial instruments to support investment in the following key sectors:
The fi-compass website showcases an increasing library of video case studies and interviews highlighting multiple ways that managing authorities have implemented financial instruments, offering insightful advice from the practitioners.
These success stories feature all ESI Funds and multiple Member States, including different objectives, implementation options and financial products. Examples from loan funds highlight support for fishing communities, energy efficiency, young farmers, social enterprises, SMEs and self-employment, and an equity fund for start-ups.
The SME Initiative which is implemented by the Bank of Valetta in Malta was the subject of a 2017 Business Planet report on the Euronews channel that featured successful final recipients on the island of Gozo. The video featured Mark Scicluna Bartoli from the Bank of Valetta who explained the important role ESIF resources play on the islands to support entrepreneurs establish successful businesses, creating new employment opportunities.
