11th annual EU conference on EAFRD financial instruments
Mark your calendar today for the '11th annual EU conference on EAFRD financial instruments', organised by the European Commission, Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI), and the European Investment Bank (EIB). The conference will take place on Thursday, 9 October 2025 in Milan, Italy.
A networking aperitivo will also take place on the evening prior the conference, on Wednesday, 8 October 2024.

Save the date – FI Campus 10-year anniversary
Mark your calendar for the next edition of FI Campus, the fi-compass flagship event organised by the European Commission and the European Investment Bank.
The event, taking place on 25, 26 and 27 November 2025 in Brussels, Belgium, will also celebrate the 10th anniversary of fi-compass and our community of financial instrument practitioners.
Participants at the event will have the opportunity to network and discuss key practical topics related to financial instruments under the 2021-2027 EU shared management funds. Building upon the 10-year legacy of fi-compass, the event will also focus on future opportunities and challenges. It will gather managing authorities, bodies implementing financial instruments, representatives from the European Commission and the European Investment Bank Group, and other stakeholders.

Your story could win the Showcase 2025 trophy
The fi-compass Showcase 2025 invites all stakeholders in EU shared management financial instruments to share their stories of impact, collaboration, and innovation.
Submit a 5-slide PowerPoint by Monday, 3 November 2025 for a chance to win. Those who are shortlisted will tell their story live at FI Campus 2025 in Brussels (25,26,27 November). The fi-compass community at FI Campus will vote for their favourites. Winners—one per theme—will be honoured with the Showcase 2025 Trophy at the closing ceremony.

Insurance and access to finance for farm resilience and adaptation in the EU
The European Commission’s DG AGRI and the European Investment Bank (EIB) hosted the ‘Insurance and Access to Finance for Farm Resilience and Adaptation in the EU’ event on 20 May 2025 in Brussels.
Opened by Agriculture Commissioner Christophe Hansen and EIB Vice-President Gelsomina Vigliotti, the conference tackled challenges and opportunities in protecting agriculture from climate change and ensuring access to finance.
The event featured findings from the new fi-compass study on 'Insurance and Risk Management Tools for Agriculture in the EU'.
Financial instruments for microfinance and workers buyout
The European Commission’s DG EMPL and the European Investment Bank hosted the ‘Financial instruments for microfinance and workers buyout’ event from 7–9 April 2025 in Madrid, Spain.
The event highlighted the role of European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) financial instruments and InvestEU products in fostering inclusive economic growth through microfinance and workers buyouts.
The event highlighted microfinance with insights from ESF+ authorities, financial institutions, and EU experts on flagship initiatives like Spain’s social microfinance programme and ESF+ experiences across member states. It also focused on workers buyouts as a tool for business succession and job preservation, discussing policy updates, best practices, and the cooperative movement’s role in promoting employee ownership.
