fi-compass organised the workshop 'Financial instruments for energy efficiency in the programming period 2014-2020' on 5 December 2016 in Zagreb, Croatia. This full day event was the first within the new fi-compass series of Member State specific workshops.

The workshop was attended by representatives from managing authorities, financial intermediaries and other stakeholders involved or planning to become involved in the implementation of financial instruments related to Thematic Objective 4 ‘Low carbon economy’ (TO4) in the programming period 2014-2020 in Croatia.

Participants had an opportunity to learn from experience of other Member States and regions in implementing a low carbon economy financial instrument in the programming period 2014-2020.

Two case studies were presented during the event:

  • JESSICA II in Lithuania: presentations by the Ministry of Finance in Lithuania (managing authority) and the European Investment Bank (Fund of Funds manager);
  • JESSICA Sardinia, Italy: presentation by the European Investment Bank (Fund of Funds manager).

Delegates were also able to learn about possibilities regarding the complementarity and combination of the European Fund for Strategical Investments (EFSI) and the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) and the potential role of investment platforms.

Feedback from the event was very positive and participants appreciated the possibility to exchange on a peer-to-peer basis with the speakers and other participants.

This fi-compass event series will continue with further Member State specific workshops in 2017, beginning with the event in Prague on 7 February 2017 for representatives from Czech Republic.
