This mini case study focuses on the Financial Instrument ‘SIH Anti-Corona Guarantee’ recently launched in Slovakia to help alleviate economic hardships faced by SMEs as a result of the measures to contain the spread of COVID-19. It is one of the first products introduced by National Promotional Banks and Institutions (NPBIs) in the EU after the outbreak of COVID-19, which employs European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF). It was produced as part of the fi-compass factsheet Responding to the COVID-19 crisis through financial instruments and was considered at the fi-compass webinar ESIF financial instruments under the Coronavirus Response Investment Initiative held on 11 May 2020. Further information on the financial instrument can be found in the fi-compass Jam Session podcast interview with Ivan Lesay, CEO of Slovak Investment Holdings.
